Professional Development Series

Ongoing professional development is an important part of any company's success, as it helps employees keep up with technical knowledge, update and improve soft skills, as well as enhance their development within the industry.

The Area Development Partnership and The University of Southern Mississippi’s Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach have partnered to offer a series of professional development sessions geared to businesses that do not offer internal programs but who value additional training and the positive results that it produces within the workplace.

Each course is designed to capitalize on the diversity of skills and knowledge of your people.

All professional development sessions are taught by Wanda Freeland. Freeland is a certified Senior Professional Human Resource by the Society for Human Resource Management and is a Certified Hospitality Department Trainer by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Freeland is a Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) practitioner and DISC trained. As President of SMART Performance Solutions, she has developed workforces in hospitality, banking and industrial production.  She currently facilitates leadership, team, and customer service workshops, conducts employee engagement surveys, and designs custom operational performance improvement programs and new employee development. She is a former ACT WorkKeys Job Profiler® and certified trainer for Wilson Learning and the Center for Management Organization Effectiveness (CMOE).
