Job Profile
The Vice President, Economic Development, is a crucial position within the Area Development Partnership (ADP). This position is responsible for leading the region’s economic development efforts in close coordination with the ADP President. This position reports directly to the ADP President. The Vice President, Economic Development, will also have managerial responsibilities which currently include managing the ADP’s Research Manager.
Education/Experience
The Vice President, Economic Development, must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. Requirements also include a minimum of three years experience in serving as an economic development project manager or similar business development role within an economic development agency.

• Must be passionate about promoting the Hattiesburg region
• Must be technically sound in economic development practices
• Must have a proven track record of project management success
• Must demonstrate effective leadership, supervisory and motivational skills
• Must be able to help plan, direct, and evaluate work of subordinates
• Must be able to effectively interact with the ADP staff, boards, investors, community leaders, elected officials, university officials, existing businesses, ADP members, economic development allies and business prospects from around the world
• Must exude confidence yet demonstrate humility
• Must have a sincere concern for helping maintain and create new jobs around the region
• Must be adept in assisting with the retention, expansion and recruitment of jobs
• Must demonstrate existing knowledge of local and state incentive programs or an aptitude and desire to learn the programs in a timely manner
• Must clearly understand and demonstrate the art and science of economic development
• Other duties will be required as assigned by the ADP President
• Out of area travel is required approximately 15% of the time
• Access to an ADP vehicle for prospect visits and out of town travel is currently available
