Purvis

Purvis, another neighbor to Hattiesburg is located less than 15 miles south, easily accessible by Interstate-59 or Highway 11. This once rural Lamar County Seat has seen a great boom in industry in recent years. The Lamar County Industrial Park, located on the southwest side of Purvis has provided many employment opportunities for surrounding area citizens.

The city's progressive attitude is seen through its constant improvements, such as the construction of a new courthouse in 1998, as well as countless aesthetic improvements throughout the city. While Purvis takes great pride in the choices they offer economically, the city is still able to boast its peaceful, serene lifestyle. Unlike many cities, the urban center of the town does not interfere with the quiet, outlying countryside where most residents reside.
