Job Profile
This internship is a 20 hour per week requirement. The intern will be responsible for supporting the Chamber of Commerce Events and Communication Team and the VP of Marketing & Research. The role involves assisting in planning and promoting events, managing data and updating graphics including PowerPoints, flyers, social media, etc. The intern will gain hands-on experience in event coordination, marketing, and economic development while contributing to the growth and success of the local business community. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about community development. This position will report to the VP of Marketing & Research and the Communications and Events Director.

- Event Planning and Coordination:Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of chamber events, includingnetworking events, workshops, and community gatherings.
- Coordinate with vendors, venues, and sponsors to ensure seamless event logistics.
- Manage event registration and attendee communication.
- Marketing & Promotion:Develop and update materials such as event cards, flyers, social media posts, and emailcampaigns to promote events.
- Update website and social media channels with relevant information and content.
- Assist in creating content for newsletters and other as needed items.
- On-Site Event Support: Provide on-site assistance during events, including set up, registration and troubleshooting (as schedule allows)
- Administrative Support: Maintain event databases and track RSVP’s and attendance
- Assist with general office duties as needed, including answer phones and responding to emails.
Education/Experience
Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Economics, or a related field. Previous experience in event planning, marketing, or research is a plus but not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with social media platforms are essential. Experience with graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous. Ideal candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about community development and economic growth.
