Lights of the Wild at the Hattiesburg Zoo is a Winner in USA TODAY 10Best 2024 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Zoo Lights

Hattiesburg, MS (December 6, 2024) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The votes are in, and we are pleased to report that Lights of the Wild at the Hattiesburg Zoo is a winner in USA TODAY 10Best 2024 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Zoo Lights!

The top 10 winners for Best Zoo Lights are: PNC Festival of Lights at Cincinnati Zoo, Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Lights Before Christmas at Toledo Zoo, Saint Louis Zoo Wild Lights presented by Commerce Bank, WildLights at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, Oklahoma City Zoo Safari Lights Presented by OG&E, Christmas at the Zoo at Indianapolis Zoo, Wild Lights at Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, Wild Lights at Detroit Zoo and Lights of the Wild at Hattiesburg Zoo.

There were 20 Zoos nominated for Best Zoo Lights, and voting began on November 4th.  “These nominations were carefully curated by a panel of subject matter experts and USA TODAY 10Best editors before being voted on by the public, so you’ve earned some serious bragging rights!,” said Maggie Tyner, Editor of USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.  “Congratulations on being a winner!”

“We are just thrilled to be a top 10 winner for Best Zoo Lights,” said Demetric Kelly, Director of Retail and Guest Services for the Hattiesburg Zoo and Serengeti Springs.  “This level of national recognition is very rewarding and I hope it will encourage visitors from across the Southeast to make plans to visit the Hattiesburg Zoo during the Christmas season.”  “Every year we make Lights of the Wild bigger, brighter and more dazzling than the year before,” continued Kelly.
